My first earthquake!
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2020946120100520
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, May 20 (Reuters)
- A strong magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck off Costa Rica's Pacific coast on Thursday, although residents of the capital San Jose said they felt only minor shaking in buildings.
I knoq I sound like a freak being so excited about this. But I just love earthquakes. The people who really know me, know that. I don't love the damages and all that but earthquakes are so interesting and fascinating.

Preparation
This week on Saturday we have Día Internacional, which means that every country makes presentation and stand for people to visit. So lots of planning, drawing, cutting, painting, writing etc.
It is a lot of work. From Finland there is only me and Harriet. So far we have done Moomin, two birchs, lake landscape with a boat in it, lots of posters with photos, "photo exhibition", huge map on Finland, flags, huge Finlandia sign and Suomi sign. And still so much to do.
I am tired. But happy. I met one really nice girl this week, and she lives really near to me. We have to take the same bus so it is great. She is showing me how to get around. And we are planning a trip together to Montezuma to visit one boy's project - saving sea turtles. I am exciteeeeeddddddd.

Jerry Spinelli - Tähtityttö (Stargirl)

Hänestä ei saanut otetta.
Hän oli nykyhetki.
Hän oli huominen.
Hän oli kaktuksenkukan hento tuoksu,
kaktuspöllön häilähtävä varjo.
Emme tienneet mitä ajatella hänestä.
Yritimme mielessämme kiinnittää hänet
neulalla korkkitauluun kuin perhosen,
mutta neula vain solahti hänestä läpi
ja hän lensi tiehensä.
One of my all time favorite books.
I would really like to read it right now.
What a day!
I was alone at the refugio today. I mean no Cata, no Hannah.
The morning was okay, I had Yulissa as a company. Really nice girl, you knows how to behave. But then, that new girl, she is going to drive me crazy.
She came three days ago, and the other girls already have made the decision that they don't like her. Today I kind of got an idea why. She speaks of everyone behind their back and is like annoying little adult. Like when the youngest girl was telling me she wants to read, the new girl was like "Duh, you dont know how to read, you cant read, right Raila, right?"
She also wanted to make a bracelet, I told her in the beginning, if she starts doing one, she also has to finish it. Well, she did it again, just like on her first day. Right after cutting the strings, she was like "I dont want to do this. I cant do this. Do one for me." I got so pissed with her. Then she did one, but she made it poorly, on a purpose.
Before lunch I had to take Dulce to kindergarten. She didn't want to go, so her sister came with me. Well, actually she walked the first 5 metres, and then slowly went back when Dulce didn't notice. Good work from her.
Anyway, Dulce was crying the whole way to school "Mamaaa, mamaaaaa!" All I really could do was keep saying "todo bien Dulce". Luckily she kept walking and we were at the school on time. And she agreed to go to her class after I told her, again, that everything is fine.
In the afternoon I had to do some serious studying. It was just me and so many girls who needed help with their homework. So I ended up teaching some geography, maths and some Spanish, I think. Well, one girl had to cut words from magazine and organize them in alphabetical order.
Afternoon was a mess. Too many girls wanting to come to the library, and just me there.

Donation to refugio
So today there came some Americans and few Costa Ricans to the refugio, give their donation and took photos. They also had Hannah Gabriel with them. She is Costa Rican boxer who won the World Championship (if I understood it right). She seemed really nice, and she knew how to be with the girls.
Other than that, it was a total freak show. I felt like I was in a Zoo. The American women were just screaming for the girls in English to come to a photo, and the girls don't speak English.
Dulce and Sarayi went to one casita (house) and I went to get them for there. When I finally got Dulce into my arms and started to talk to Sarayi who was under the bed, one of the women took Dulce from me and started to drag her out of the house.
That's not how you are going to get her into a photo.. When I went to refugio, it took almost two weeks before Dulce wanted to be with me.
Then, Kimba. She absolutely HATES being in photographs. So I went to talk with her and the women started to yell at her and drag her outside. Then finally Cata talked her into the photo.
All that time, the famous boxer was sitting outside with other girls and talking with them. The girls really liked her.

Good times.
Today I also had a nice conversation with my hostmom. We talked about our lives, and friends, and travelling. And the differences between Finland and Costa Rica.
She also told me about her divorce, or more like how people reacted and changed their attitude after that.
Also, one of my hostsister, Mariana, has started to talk me only in Spanish, which is good. And everytime her mom speaks me in English she gives her an angry look. Haha.

Places to go to.
I was reading my Costa Rica guidebook again today. And as a result, I have a long list of places which I want to visit.
Places near San José
-Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo
-Los Jardines de la Catarata La Paz (La Paz Waterfall Gardens)
-Moravia (a coffee plantation near San José)
-Volcan Poás
Have to go
-Monteverde
-Parque Nacionla Manuel Antonio
Beaches
-Cahuita
-Puerto Viejo
-Jacó
Far away
-Parque Nacional Corcovado
-Montezuma
And so many more.
Also, I need to renew my visa after 90 days here. Which means that I have to leave the country for 72 hours. I am planning on going to Nicaragua. Granada and Isla de Omepete.

Kde jsou moje české reklamy?
To my great disappointment, I noticed today that the ad's on Facebook are no longer in Czech! They are in Spanish. So far they have been in Czech, which I have highly enjoyed.
I am a little sad.

Shopping!
Today we went shopping with my hostfamily. There were sales in one big store.
I didn't really like the stuff they had there but in the end I bought one t-shirt (with guitars in the front!), orange sandals and a warm shirt.
Then I wanted to go to Multiplaza which was around the corner from there and my hostmom dropped me there. Daniela had some friends there going to movies so she came too. They wanted to go to eat to McDonald's and since I didn't want to be rude and not go with them, I had to go there. I hate McDonald's. I just don't like it. Ufffff.
Afterwards Dani and her friends went to movies and I started my shopping. After buying lots of other things, I went to Zara to buy that sailor jacket I saw some time ago, and I couldn't find it! So I was already panicking if I can't buy it. But then I realized I still have the photo in my camera and I went to one shop assistant with the camera, showed the photo and asked "Tiene este todavia?" And he told me where to find it. And I WAS HAPPY!
I also wanted to buy two reallllllllllly cute skirts (both blue) and a really cute shirt which I will probably go get some time later. Maybe.

"You cut your nails!"
The girls in my center love my nails. Because they are so long and nice.
Then on friday I went to work and the first thing the girls noticed of me, was that I had cut my nails! Then they spent some minutes speculating it.
Then the next thing was that I had my hair open. I usually have my hair on a ponytail so they were excited to see me my hair open. I got a nice clip from Cata and I was wearing it. So cute.

Friday was hot and rainy (as usually) and we were cleaning the library with Hannah. It was full of mosquitos this week and so dirty that we decided to close it for a day to do a proper cleaning. After we finished we had some girls there doing bracelets and painting.
It was pouring rain when some girls moms came to pick them home for the weekend. I ran to the main building under my umbrella with four girls. Dulce (5 year old little girl) was hanging in my hand and screaming as the water dropped to her arm.
