Vappu

Just nyt mä haluaisin olla Suomessa juhlimassa vappua. Simaa, perunasalaattia, munkkeja, ystäviä, ehkä vähän auringonpaistetta tai sitten ei. Vappusäätähän ei koskaan osata ennustaa.

Klara vappen, bara vatten!

Sick.

So, the last week I was sleeping at home.
I got rotavirus and couldn't really do much (anything).

I went to Playa Sámara with one girl from here last weekend and got sick there. So not that much fun for me there then. I took photos. Will upload some soon, I promise.
We met two germans in our hostel, Anna who was travelling trough Central America alone and Roland who is here as a volunteer too, but leaving back home soon. He was with different organisation though.

It was mt first beach in Costa Rica. I liked it. But at the same time, I think it was a bit lame. Don't get me wrong. But I am sure there are plenty of better beaches to go to.

So last week, sleeping home. I went to doctor on Friday and got some "anorexia drinks" as I call them. It was the coolest hospital I have ever been to.

Saturday I went to my project to celebrate Dulce María's and Gemina's birthdays. It was nice. When the girls saw me coming they run to me screaming "RAILAAAAAAAAAA, RAILAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" :'') And the nuns were so happy to see me there too. Afterwards me, Hannah and Cata went to a cafe. It was a cool place and we had so much fun there.

Other than that, hmm. I am getting a bit tired with my hostfamily. They are really getting on my nerves now when I am sick. They sit next to me to make sure that I eat my medicines. I am not 5 year old, I know how to take medicine and swallow it. They treat me like I am the biggest idiot on the planet and it just makes me wanna go home, right now.

But back to project tomorrow. That I like, at least.

What I bought..

So here are photos of the Native American things I bought in Panama. The tribe who makes these is called Kuna.

I bought looooots of clothes and other stuff too from Allbrook mall, haha.

Some bracelets.

Mola works made by Kuna tribe.

A basket.

Panama 28.3.-1.4.

So, our long bus trip to Panama started at 1am Sunday night. Before that we were making sandwiches with Samantha for the trip. We were like a factory. I wish I had that photo to out here.. But so we had a huuuuuuuuge amount of sandwiches - con mucho amor.

So we went to Panama on a organised trip. It was Raquel's sister who organised it. From ACI there were 9 of us. So in the hotel we stayed in three rooms. Apparently our room was the only one where the air condition worked so it was freeeeeezing in the room. And the other rooms were like sauna. There were 3 beds in our room, but my bed was really bad, so in the end I slept with Raquel and Samantha from other room came to sleep with Freyja. (Remember, our room had air condition..)

We did lots of tours.
Panama Canal, of course. It was kind of a disappointment for me though.

Puente de las Américas, which is the bridge that connects Americas together. Before they build the bridge there was no other way to cross the canal than go by boat..

Casco Antiguo -the old, beautiful part of Panama. It's full of wooden houses with French style balconies.

Panama Viejo - the really old part of Panama. Basicly all you can see is ruins of what used to be there. There were also huge, lovely trees. And a Native American fabric work center.

Calzada Amador - peninsula with lots of restaurants. It looks awesome at night time!

Allbrook Mall - the biggest shopping center I have ever been to. The mall is built in the halls that the USA airforce rejected in 1999.

Native American's market place. We actually visited two of those. I absolutely loved the fabric works they had there. And bought some too, of course.

On Wednesday we had the morning free so me and some others went to India shop. It was huuuuge. I could have bought so much stuff there. And so many elephant things. I only bought one elephant thing in the end. I need some elephants around me, so I just had to. After free time, so more Allbrook mall.

At 10pm we left back to Costa Rica. We were at border in the early morning and had to hang around and wait. Finally after some hours at the border we continued our drive back to SJ through a misty mountainroud which I absolutely loved.

Hummingbird.

I saw a hummingbird (kolibri) today. At work.
So cute.

(And that photo is just from Google.)

Besides that. Hmm. It was a lazy day at work. I was in the library most of the day. Doing bracelets with some girls, and I had my camera with me so we were taking photos too.

Also, almost every day at midday I get the worst headache and it just doesn't go away. Migraine? So because of that I often go to sleep pretty much straight after work, like at 18.00..

Work can be fun.

For the last two days we have been doing thank you/happy new year 2010 -cards for people who have donated money/clothes to the center. By we, I mean me, the German volunteer Hannah and Costa Rican volunteer Catalina.

It's been really nice actually. Just cutting, drawing, writing, talking, laughing and listening to some music. Today the last song we heard was that one song from Sheryl Crow.

All I wanna do is have some fun
I got a feeling I'm not the only one

So while walking in Escazú after work we were just singing that song because it was stuck in our heads.

About my weekend, Saturday I have to go to ACI meeting, and there is going to be ACI party after the meeting too. And on Sunday we planned to go to the Volcan Poás where I was supposed to go on my orientation week but got a little sick.

Leave some comments for me how you are doing or whatever, so I know if someone actually reads this. And Suvi, thanks for all the comments! :) Mua harmittaa et missasin opistopäivät, buuhuu!

I am ready for the Navy!

So since I am super lazy with my Panama blogpost and photos I will write something short before that post.

Panama City was full of Navy boys and girls with really great uniforms. So me and Samantha are ready to join the Panamanian Navy.

I already found some outfits for me too!

Friday

I shouldn't have said that it has been good at work, Friday was bad.
I had to walk one other girl to school alone. I thought that I can do it. But it appeared to be different school which was way too far away. And that girl decided not to like me that day. So right after we got out of the center she started to walk really fast so that it was super hard for me to follow her. She didn't also listen at all if I told her to slow down. And it was one girl who has so far been really nice with me. She always wants to play with me and so. Agh.

I got really sick on the way to the school. AND back. Oh, and the way to that school was almost all uphill road. So when I got back to the center I went to talk with one nun and told that I think Jonas (my ACI contact) told you I am not able to do physic stuff yet. She didn't know that. I hope they all know it now.

Anyway, they left me go already at 2pm. I was so happy about that. At the evening I went to Raquel's house, it was me, her, and two other girls. Then on Saturday one of the girls left and we went to pick up another girl, Samantha, who then came with us to Panama.
